Our second season in the OCM-universe is finished. Here are the numbers:
422 - The number of points Gerben scored for the team. He was our top scorer with that number. Only 23 years old and with his limited skills on FR and TQ, he managed to get 3 wins and a pretty impressive 14 top 9's.
5 - Besides Gerben, points came from Eric (368), Estevan (22), Vincent (14) and Safwan (10), so 5 riders in total. We are very dependent on the two captains, and will definately try to add some scoring power to the squad in season 57. Lonzo will pick up his FR training in the first half of the season, possibly becoming a 215-ish sprinter. If he maxes earlier we might look into getting an older 220-ish all round sprinter. Estevan is also still not maxed, with average potential in both CL and DH. We will continue that after gettting a few more training points in the sprinting-stats, probably towards the end of the new season. Furthermore...
2 - We will have 2 new riders coming in from Andeby: Lead Out Xiomar Impastato and Lead Out/occasional TQ-SP captain Herman Dijksma. The latter was one of the best and most expensive talents ever, but failed to deliver on that promise. We hope to push out some results at Gewoon Rechtdoor anyway.
250.000 - Talking about amazing talents, we were lucky enough to find Dimitri Grimaud on the hire list. Being a climbing TT'er and therefor a great tour talent, which doesn't suit our team, management decided to put him up for sale. That resulted in a 250k bid from Matrix team.
4 - Back to Gerben, 4 was really his number this season. He finished 4th in an incredible 5 races this season, including edition #44 in 3 of those. He also got 4 racetraining points, and reached the 4th win of his career. Last but not least, the fanclub that was started after his mid-season successes was obviously called Fens4Fans.
0 - Starting captain and last seasons best scoring rider Niek scored 0 points this year, as expected: he hasn't been a captain all season. Coming from the same region as Gerben (undisclosed due to scouting purposes in that area), he has really grown into the role of a mentor for that youngster and the team as a whole.
200.000 - With 200k, Eric Brink has been our most expensive incoming transfer ever. But he has been worth every penny, winning 77k in prize money already since he joined the team around 1/3rd into the season. He also was the 3rd most successful flat rider of the season, which is putting Gewoon Rechtdoor on the map and promoting us as a good alternative for young riders who have the ambition to win races instead of being a helper in a top team for all of their career. But we also realize it will be hard for Eric to beat his last season ever again.
3 - Eventhough we had a bit of a slow start, also with some bad luck, we managed to reach division 3 - to our own surprise. This actually seems a bit too much for the team right now, having little to none equipment in combination with sub-par riders. We felt the same way last season, when we reached 4th division. In that respect it is promising how much progress was made in this season: division 4 now feels like the right place for us to be in. If we can continue to grow, hopefully by the end of the new season we are really ready for 3rd division.
All in all it was a good season. Nothing spectacular happened, but perhaps it is quite remarkable that despite the modest results we were still able to reach 3rd division in our second season.
Some things were also hard to grasp in numbers. I really enjoyed the community so much. Frank with his details on the Dutch NT and the FR-thread. He also shared some of his insights, just like Erwin, Gerard and Leo. The sort of 'battle' between the 2020 managers is really nice, and never feels like a battle really because everyone is just supportive and helpful, like Max, Phil, Jakub and of course Erwin again. And just to be sure, because he has the ban-hamer always ready: even Don is kinda oke ;)

Good four you, Gerben.
No kidding, incredible start, really nice season despite some crucial injuries. A pleasure to have you around here.
